Money buys happiness. Or, does it? Studies have shown relationships with friends, colleagues and family members is a key factor to emotional well-being and happiness.

Too often, we allow money to come in the way of developing close relationships. Don't. Too often, we allow monetary losses to ruin relationships. When that happens, we suffer a double loss - we are allowing a smaller loss to snowball into a greater loss. Don't let that happen.

Money can win you many admirers. But money cannot buy you true and sincere relationships. Money should be a thing that is shared with loved ones - it should not be a thing that distances them.

The next time there is a tension between money and a relationship, choose the latter. If a loved one makes a mistake that causes you to lose a large sum of money, try saying "I forgive you and I still love you", instead of "It's your fault". You may well find the relationship rising to a new level of emotional intimacy. In the process, you become happier too.
